Did Berlin conference on Libya fail before it started?

The beginning of 2020 has not been normal for all Libyans as they have received some rays of hope that the war that made them suffer in 2019 can end this year.

The start of this year saw an unprecedented escalation by Turkey’s announcement that it will send troops to Libya, which was rendered by politicians and major countries around the world as a way of fueling the conflict in the country.

January is showing Libyans its worst as they start to wonder what happened to the Berlin conference that was supposed to kick off this month.

So many preparatory meetings took place at the countries pertaining to the conflict and those hosting the conference, yet with all the signs now, it seems Libya’s political track is being taken off Berlin table.

Many Libyans were hoping the Berlin conference would bring about some solutions to the conflict and that it would be more serious than the previous meetings in different European cities so that Libya can be rid of outlawed groups and end the fighting.

Yet, the ongoing incidents speak of a bigger gap that was caused by the GNA and Turkey’s MoUs and things could remain the same until the international community intervenes to put an end to the foreign interference.
