Macron: We depicted Turkish vessels transporting mercenaries to Libya

The French President Emmanuel Macron said Wednesday his country had depicted over the last days Turkish vessels transporting Syrian mercenaries to Libya.

Local sources, including brigades loyal to Government of National Accord, reported that Turkish troops arrived in Tripoli Wednesday dawn on board two Turkish warships that had been seen off the shore of Tripoli port.

The two warships were accompanied by a ship to unload tanks and military vehicles for the first time since Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced supporting GNA despite vowing in Berlin not to intervene in Libya or send more mercenaries.

The two warships “Gazintepe and Kaidiniz” were escorted into the Tripoli port by GNA armed groups then sent the shipments to Mitiaga airbase, according to the sources.

Macron said in a press conference with the Greek Prime Minister that Turkey had violated the promises made in Berlin on Libya, referring to Turkey’s violation of Libya’s arms embargo.

Macron said France supports Greece in its sovereign control of its maritime boundaries, renewing Paris condemnation of the GNA-Turkey maritime MoU.
