Italy says Libya’s crisis needs a firm US stance

The Italian Foreign Minister Luigi di Maio said the situation in Libya needs a clear US stance that puts an end to the intervention of different parties involved in the Libyan crisis.

Di Maio said the recent complications in Libya point to the need of a firm US stance on Libya, adding that the proxy war parties in Libya need to receive an American message that tells them “stop sending more mercenaries and weapons to Libya”.

Di Maio told The Associated Press that he hails the efforts of the UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame as they led to starting military negotiations in Geneva.

“There is now a diplomatic process in progress and well all should cling to it to find a solution in Libya because the military solution isn’t possible”. Maio said.
