Lavrov: Haftar isn’t a symbol for separation in Libya

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has confirmed that the General Commander of the Libyan National Army Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar isn’t a symbol for separation in Libya as he is the Head of one of the warring parties in Libya, as recognized by the UN.

Lavrov said in Munich at the Security Conference that Haftar is recognized by the international community, including the states participating at the conference, so he isn’t a symbol for separation in Libya, TASS reported.

He indicated that Russia was doing its best with other stakeholders to help Libyans rebuild the destruction that took place by a violation of the UN charter, referring to NATO’s intervention in Libya in 2011.
