The Italian embassy in Libya has welcomed the Government of National Accord’s readiness to adhere to a humanitarian truce to confront the threat of the Coronavirus epidemic outbreak around the world.
In a statement, the Italian embassy called on the General Commander of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, to accept the humanitarian truce call to halt hostilities, expressing hope that the truce will turn into an agreement that supports the conclusions of the 5 + 5 Military Committee.
The Italian embassy condemned the attacks that targeted residential areas in Tripoli during the past days, and resulted in the killing of civilians, the last of which the attack targeting the historic center of the capital, Tripoli.
