Libya: Al-Mismari threatens to target GNA forces

The spokesperson for the General Commander of the Libyan National Army, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, said, referring to the Government of National Accord that, in the event that the ceasefire violation continues, they will be subject to direct attacks by the national army forces on all fronts, holding them fully responsible for all the consequences of their failure to commit to LNA’s warning.

Al-Mismari added in a press statement that the international community is now aware of the rejection of terrorist and criminal militias to stop hostilities and their lack of respect for the ceasefire and commitment to Berlin’s conclusions and to respond to LNA calls to focus efforts to combat the Coronavirus epidemic in Libya, adding that they are prompted by the Turkish Joint Operations Room in Tripoli.

Al-Mismari stressed that the continuation of the GNA and its “terrorist militias”, according to him, in breaching the ceasefire, as well as its refusal to halt hostilities, pushing the armed forces to the option of confrontation against what he described the “terrorist militias backed by elements of the Turkish army, mercenaries and Syrian terrorists” to take all appropriate measures to protect the Libyan people.

Al-Mismari added that the national army forces were able to seize the areas of Al-Asa, Al-Jameel, Rigdalin, and Zaltan, from the control of what he described as the “GNA militias and their Syrian mercenaries”, stressing that these areas enjoy freedom and security today.

It is noteworthy that this progress of the National Army forces came after the failure of the attack by forces affiliated with GNA on Aqaba Bin Nafi Airbase, in the Al-Watiya area in western Libya.
