Libyan National Army repels GNA forces’ attacks

The military media office of the General Command of the Libyan National Army said on Saturday that LNA forces took control of new positions on Ain Zara frontlines, and tightened control over the Gabayliya area.

The head of media office of the 73 Infantry Brigade, Al-Mundhir Al-Khartosh, confirmed that the LNA had repelled a new attack by the forces of the Government of National Accord led by Ayoub Bouras in Ain Zara, explaining that the attacking forces had not succeeded in approaching army positions in the area.

LNA Regains Positions 

Sources told 218News that the Libyan National Army forces have regained all their positions on the Al-Sadia and Tawishah frontlines, after losing them Saturday morning GNA forces.

The sources added that in the evening, LNA forces carried out heavy shelling on the forces of GNA , near the main Al-Sadiya road.

Attack on Tarhuna

On Saturday morning, GNA forces launched a massive attack from more than one axis on the city of Tarhuna, under the cover of Turkish drones, as violent clashes took place while the LNA forces were positioned outside the city in anticipation of any emergency.

Meanwhile, 218News has learned from local sources that GNA forces started their attack from four axes. The main axis was from the southwest of Maslata, in addition to the axis of the Al-Zatarna area, which was witnessing violent clashes for a continuous year, as well as the axis of Al-Sharidat.

The clashes continued through the evening, after which the sources confirmed that the LNA was able to repel the attack in Al-Zatarna area and forced GNA forces to retreat towards the coastal road.

Shooting down 4 Drones

The LNA’s media office said Saturday that air defense weapons had shot down a Turkish drone south of the capital, after taking off from “Mitiga military base” in Tripoli, hence; bringing the number of downed drones to four since last Friday, in Tarhuna, Bani Walid, Wadi Dinar, and the last one in Tripoli.

On Friday, the media office of the LNA announced shooting down of three Turkish drones: the first attempted to raid positions of military units in the city of Tarhuna, the second attempted to raid military vehicles in the Nessma area near the city of Bani Walid, and the third was shot down in Wadi Dinar area when it was attempting to strike army tracking equipment.
