Field Marshal Haftar: “Presidential Council underestimated Libyans’ dignity and it must be ousted”

The General Commander of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has called for the political agreement to be removed and the Presidential Council, which Haftar said it had committed crimes amounting to “high treason”, to be toppled as well by the Libyan people.

Field Marshal Haftar added, in a speech addressed to Libyans, that “the Presidential Council underestimated the dignity of the citizens, neglected the state’s sovereignty, destroyed its economy, harnessed oil resources to support militias and brought mercenaries, as well as boasted of the criminality perpetrated by terrorist organizations in Sabratha and Sorman.”

Field Marshal Haftar called “the Libyan people to end the political agreement, the presidential council and to mandate another institution to rule the country.”

“The army defeated terrorism in Benghazi, Derna, the Oil Crescent region, the southern region and central parts of the country, in addition, it continues to fight terrorism in the capital, Tripoli.” Haftar added.
