LNA: Terrorist gangs in Tripoli are behind attacks on embassies

The General Command of the Libyan National Army denied that it had targeted foreign embassies in the country, stating that it was an act inconsistent with international laws and norms.

In a statement by Libyan National Army spokesman Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, he said that the General Command had pledged since the launch of the liberation operation in Tripoli to protect diplomatic headquarters, foreign companies and state institutions, and that the army forces aimed to protect the country primarily from terrorism.

Al-Mismari accused in his statement what he called terrorist gangs of committing such acts to stir international community’s stance against the LNA.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack on civilians in the area surrounding the residence of the Italian ambassador on the Shatt Road in the capital, Tripoli, saying in a statement that the attack by forces affiliated to Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar killed at least two people. It stressed that those attacks were unacceptable and against international law and human life.
