Turkey: Mastermind of Maritime MoU with Libya’s GNA is promoted to Chief of General Staff

On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan issued a presidential decree to promote Admiral Cihat Yaycı and appoint him commander of the General Staff.

Yaycı was the chief of staff of the navy, and he is the author of “Libya, Turkey’s neighbor from the sea.”

He was also the first to call for the necessity of signing the maritime agreement with Libya at the earliest opportunity to prevent Greece and Greek Cyprus from controlling resources in the region.

The newspaper, Sözcü, said that Yaycı was the architect of the controversial demarcation of the “Maritime Boundary Between Turkey and Libya”, which was concluded last November, noting that he had a major role in the detection and tracking of Gülen personnel in the Turkish army.

It seems that Admiral Yaycı, is working on Turkish expansion in the region and the invasion of neighboring countries, the same newspaper indicated in another report, adding that the Greek press, at the time, incited against the Turkish admiral, and in many of them reached the point of threatening death, because of his authorship of the book “Greece’s Claims”, in which he hinted that Greece violated international treaties when it placed heavy weapons on 16 disputed islands.

His book prompted Greek military experts to attack him, considering that Turkey wants to control the “Aegean Sea”.
