UNSMIL says it’s ready to facilitate an inclusive political process

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya called on the Libyan parties to engage constructively in the Joint Military Commission 5+5 talks in order to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement and abide by Security Council resolutions on the arms embargo imposed on Libya.

The UNSMIL welcomed, in a statement, Sunday, the calls made by international and regional parties calling for stopping the fighting and resuming talks, pointing out that these calls must be based on the political agreement and the course of the Berlin Conference as well as the resolutions of the Security Council, stressing its readiness to conduct a political process that includes everyone.

The UN mission expressed its dismay at the recent waves of displacement from Tripoli and Tarhuna and reports that bodies were discovered in Tarhuna Hospital, in addition to the retribution acts of destroying and burning public and private property in the city, calling on the Government of National Accord to conduct urgent and impartial investigations.
