Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar had missed his opportunity to negotiate and would have no future role in Libya.
Cavusoglu added that Haftar turned his back on all international appeals that are in favor of ceasefire and lost his opportunity to participate in the political process.
“The putschists should not have a role in running the country, and the political solution is the best for Libya.” Cavusoglu added.
His statements came during a press conference on Saturday in Antalya on the sidelines of an event to introduce Turkish tourism services in light of the return of normal life with the decline of the Coronavirus infections.
Regarding the sovereignty dispute in the Mediterranean, Cavusoglu onsidered that excluding Turkey from any agreement or step in the eastern Mediterranean would make it “invalid”, confirming their readiness to have dialogue with all the relevant countries, including Greece.
