Turkey, Italy see eye to eye on Libya as they speak of sustainable truce in the country

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stressed that Ankara and Rome will continue their joint work towards a ceasefire and peace in Libya.

This came during a joint press conference held by the Turkish Foreign Minister and his Italian counterpart Luigi di Maio from Ankara after bilateral talks that dealt with the most prominent regional issues, particularly the Libyan conflict.

Luigi di Maio stressed that “democracy and diplomacy are the best tools to deal with the Libyan crisis, and that cooperation is the key”, adding that Rome is working directly with Ankara to stop the conflict in Libya in accordance with United Nations efforts and Berlin Conference conclusions.

The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that the international community must work to end the Libyan conflict, stressing that Rome seeks to declare a sustainable truce in Libya.
