The UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has expressed concern about the recent clashes that broke out in the Janzour area in Tripoli between criminal elements, including individuals belonging to armed groups.
The UNSMIL indicated in a statement Saturday that the occurrence of these clashes confirms the need for the Government of National Accord to move quickly toward effective reform of the security sector in conjunction with the disarmament of armed groups and the demobilization and reintegration of their elements.
The UN mission condemned the clashes, describing them as “reckless acts” that directly endangered the lives of civilians.
