Putin, Merkel discuss Sirte, Al-Jufra status quo on the phone

Developments in Libya were the focus of a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The phone conversation dealt with the latest developments after the Turkish statements about the necessity of the withdrawal of the national army units from Sirte and Al-Jufra and allowing the GNA forces to advance on the ground in conjunction with the military build-up in Abu Grein.

The Sirte Al-Jufra front is witnessing a military build-up from both sides, supported by local and international statements about the possibility of the outbreak of fighting at any moment.

German government spokesman Stephen Seibert said Merkel and Putin exchanged views on implementing UN arms embargo on Iran and the current situation in Libya.
