Algerian President says he’s with everyone in Libya

I am not with any party. I am with everyone.” This sentence may be completely applicable to the Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune in his statements towards Libya and his position on the conflicting parties.

Tebboune, who has repeatedly announced that his country will not stand with any party in Libya, warned in local television statements against continuing the military escalation in the country, indicating that it will turn into a new Somalia if the Libyan tribes are armed and the crisis in them will not be resolved if this happens, stressing that his country stands at the same distance with its friend countries.

During his recent discussions with the representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya, Stephanie Williams, Tebboune stressed the need to accelerate the political solution to the Libyan crisis, which would distance the country from foreign interference.

His moves towards Libya have sparked widespread controversy, as a number of Algerian experts saw that their country has some of the positivity that enables it to resolve the Libyan crisis, including remaining neutral, while a politician in Libya indicated, according to Sputnik, that Algeria cannot play any role in the scene.

This comes at a time when Tebboune has confirmed in previous statements that his country stood with the Government of National Accord, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, had visited Algeria and held meetings with him, as HoR Speaker was supposed to visit Algeria during the last two days, but this visit was postponed without reasons, according to what political adviser Fathi Mariami announced.

The Algerian president’s stances towards Libya seem in its external form seeking to develop a political solution without a fight, but the difficulty of the crisis shows its presence on the regional scene in front of great challenges, especially that the parties are satisfied only with those who stand with them against the other.
