In a phone call with US President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed the latest developments in Libya and its conflict, as well as the developments of the Renaissance Dam issue with Ethiopia.
According to a statement by the official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Al-Sisi reviewed with Trump Egypt’s consistent strategic position towards the Libyan issue, as it always aimed at restoring the balance of the state and preserving its national institutions, in addition to preventing further deterioration of the security situation by undermining foreign interventions in the Libyan conflict, whose repercussions affected regional security and stability.
During the call, the US President expressed his understanding of the negative repercussions of the Libyan crisis on the region, praising the Egyptian efforts towards the Libyan crisis, as they would enhance the course of the political process in Libya.
The spokesman mentioned that the conversation also dealt with exchanging views on developments of the current position of the Renaissance Dam issue, and some issues related to the strategic bilateral relations between the two countries.
