Brother of Manchester Arena bomber faces life in prison sentence

The British newspaper “Birmingham Mail” revealed the latest developments in the case of Hashem Abedi, who is accused of supporting his brother Salman, the “Manchester Arena” terrorist bomber, and was convicted of committing 22 murders, attempted murder and planning the bombing.

Salman Abedi blew himself up on May 22, 2017 targeting a concert by pop singer Ariana Grande, killing 23 people and wounding nearly 120 others.

The newspaper said that Hashem Abedi faces a life sentence, ruling out the fact that he was less than 21 years old at the time of the crime, but he may be sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Although Hashem Abedi is facing conviction today for killing 22 people, including children, following the suicide bombing by his older brother Salman, he is still until now in denial of the charges brought against him, trying to place all charges against his suicide brother.

Hashem Abedi, who is now 23 years old, was arrested by the Libyan Deterrence Force alongside his father Ramadan Abedi shortly after his older brother Salman carried out the attack, but the process of handing him over to the British authorities took more than two years, amid allegations that the United Kingdom government paid 9 million pounds as a “bribe” to the GNA to help with that, according to the “Guardian” newspaper.
