Tebboune: Legitimate elections are the only way to end Libya’s crisis

The Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, said that the only way to rebuild the Libyan state is to organize legitimate elections instead of resorting to useless solutions, noting that his country’s relationship with Libya is based on the principle of of friendliness and is not governed by any economic or strategic interests.

Tebboune’s position came during an interview with the French newspaper “La Opinion” in which he talked about a number of regional issues, including Libya.

Tebboune believed that the absence of institutions is the reason for the aggravation of the crisis, adding that diplomatic moves and the attempt to provide painkillers will not lead to significant results in the Libyan case.

The Algerian president stressed the organization of legitimate elections regardless of the obstacles, as it is the appropriate and required formula in order to build the rest of other institutions and form a parliament, and to choose a prime minister or president for the country directly, then organize the balance between political forces based on the constitution.

He also blamed the international community that it provides small solutions that will not lead to any results in the future.
