EU’s Operation IRINI inspects a ship off Libya’s coast

The European Union naval operation “IRINI” published a photo of inspections conducted by the crew of a Greek frigate on board a ship, as part of its work to monitor the arms embargo on Libya.

The European naval operation, charged with enforcing the arms embargo imposed on Libya, was gathering intelligence information about the violators of the resolution; early last September, when it reached full operational capacity with the arrival of the Greek frigate HS Limnos.

Operation IRINI owns three naval ships provided by Italy, Germany and Greece, and four aircraft in direct support, provided by Luxembourg, Poland, France and Greece: and a drone provided by Italy.
