EU ambassadors to Al-Sarraj: Maritime MoU violates laws

A European statement issued today, Saturday, renewed its assertion that “there can only be a political solution to the current crisis (in Libya) that leads the country towards parliamentary and presidential elections.”

The statement stated that the ambassadors spoke on behalf of the European Union and all its member states, as well as Norway, and stressed the importance of full participation in all tracks of the UN-led Berlin process to reach a lasting and sustainable ceasefire agreement, restoring the state’s monopoly on the legitimate use of force across the country, and restoring Unification of financial institutions, the complete lifting of the oil blockade across Libya, and the resumption of political dialogue.

According to the statement, the Europeans indicated that the European Union supports the Berlin process “as the only option to end the Libyan crisis and the suffering of the civilian population in Libya, and to avoid further destabilization in Libya and the region,” and stressed that “reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement will be possible only from During the talks, ”they welcomed the announcement of a direct session of the Joint Military Committee, under the direction of the United Nations Mission in Libya.

European diplomats welcomed recent efforts to resume oil production and work at the same time to achieve fair and transparent management of oil revenues among all regions of the country, and urged the Libyan side to move forward without further delay in carrying out economic reforms, including the reunification of financial institutions in the country.

They emphasized that the European Union is ready to impose sanctions against those who “undermine and impede work on the various tracks of the Berlin process, including the implementation of the arms embargo imposed by the United Nations on Libya, as well as those who work against ongoing attempts to reform the security authorities, or who continue to plunder state funds or Committing human rights abuses and violations throughout the country, ”according to the statement.

On the humanitarian side, the statement stated that the European side demanded a moratorium on the death penalty, with the aim of permanently abolishing it, stressing that the European Union continues to support criminal investigations into crimes committed in hostilities to identify victims and enhance accountability for grave human rights violations.
