India thanks Libyan tribal elders for helping release its kidnapped nationals

Indian authorities thanked Libya, especially the tribal elders, for the great efforts they had made to secure the release of the seven Indian citizens who were kidnapped in the “Shwerf” area in mid-September.

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the seven Indian citizens arrived in Brega after their release, indicating that they are in good health, and they will remain at the company’s headquarters for some time before completing all the necessary procedures to return to their homes.

New Delhi indicated that the negotiations that resulted in the release of the abductees were very sensitive and faced challenges due to some inconsistency in the positions of the other side, appreciating the prominent role played by the local tribes.

These seven Indians, who work for the Shula Mudia Brega Company, were kidnapped on their way to Tripoli Airport as they were preparing to go to India.
