Sarkozy charged with “forming a gang” in Libyan funds’ case

The French Public Prosecutor’s Office charged former President Nicolas Sarkozy with forming a criminal group in the case of Libyan financing for his electoral campaign during 2007, according to the National Financial Prosecution.

New e-mail leaks from former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton revealed that the motive behind Sarkozy’s move to oust Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was the fear of using Libyan gold quantities to weaken French influence in Africa.

The indictment came after four days of interrogation sessions.

This new prosecution is in addition to three other charges brought against “Sarkozy” in the framework of the same file in March 2018.
