Libyan Amazigh dismayed for being marginalized in UN-led political dialogue

The city of Yafran hosted a meeting that included members of the High Council of State, activists, elders and mayors of a number of municipalities, in addition to the Supreme Council of the Amazigh of Libya.

The Yafran meeting dealt with political dialogues, and expressed their displeasure with what they described as “the marginalization and exclusion of the international mission of the Amazighs in political dialogues,” and their choice of controversial figures to represent the parties to the dialogue.

The meeting issued a statement confirming their strong objection to the approach of the UN mission in Libya, accusing it of working to prolong the duration of the Libyan crisis, saying that they are not bound by the outcomes of the dialogues, demanding the state of institutions and law, amending the draft constitution and calling for urgent parliamentary elections.
