Salame voices great hopes now more than ever for “new Libya”

The former UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, said that his hopes are greater than ever to see an end to a decade of violence in Libya after a series of political and military dialogues between the Libyan parties.

Salame added, during an interview with “Agence France-Presse”, that he is very optimistic because of what he described as “the accumulation of positive factors” during the past two months.

He indicated that the war, which has been raging for a decade, cannot be resolved in one day, and that Libya is now on the verge of being able to hold secure elections; enough to be reasonably representative of the will of the people, and this could be done in the next six or seven months.
