LNA intercepts ship coming from Turkey headed to Misurata

The commander of the combat marine brigade in Sousse, Colonel Mohammad Al-Majdoub, confirmed that a ship carrying the Jamaican flag was seized as it was coming from Turkey and bound for the port of Misurata.

Al-Majdoub explained in statements to “Russia Today” that the ship was towed to the seaport of Sousse after entering the restricted area, as it did not respond to calls from the Libyan Navy.

The commander of the marine brigade indicated that they had searched the ship and interrogated its crew of 17 sailors, nine of whom were Turkish.

In the meantime, the spokesman for the General Command of the Army, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, said in statements to Youm7 newspaper that the ship was sailing from east to west and entered the Libyan territorial waters near Ras Al-Hilal in Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, which is a prohibited area, even for Libyan fishing boats, except with prior permission.
