France welcomes Moroccan initiative for solution to Libya’s crisis

Representatives of the French-Moroccan Friendship Group in the French National Council welcomed, on Monday, the Moroccan “geopolitical leadership” in the Middle East, North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The group members described Morocco as a pioneer in the region based on its efforts to promote peace.

The group’s statements came against the backdrop of Morocco’s initiative to find a solution to the Libyan conflict, as well as its participation in the fight against crime in the Sahel region, according to a press release carried by Moroccan official media.

It is noteworthy that Morocco hosted talks in Tangiers between 23 and 28 of last November, in which 123 deputies from the Libyan House of Representatives participated with the aim of working to end the Libyan crisis.

Morocco hosted three sessions of the Libyan dialogue in “Bouznika” near “Rabat” from September to November, and these sessions resulted in important understandings, according to the participants from the different parties and competing factions, especially with regard to agreements regarding appointments to the leadership positions.
