Turkish Parliament receives motion to extend troops deployment to Libya

The Turkish Parliament received Saturday a motion regarding the extension of the tasks of Turkish forces in Libya.

The Turkish “Anadolu Agency” said: “The Presidency of Parliament has received a motion stipulating the extension of the Turkish forces’ missions in Libya for 18 months.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced last January, the start of the movement of Turkish army units to Libya under the pretext of “coordination and stability.”

He explained that the Turkish soldiers began to move to Libya in stages, but not as “fighting forces.”

It is worth noting that the Turkish parliament approved Erdogan’s MoU, which allows sending Turkish military forces to support the Government of National Accord, while the Libyan parliament unanimously voted to cut ties with Turkey.

The official spokesperson for the parliament, Abdullah Belihaq, previously announced in an official statement that the House of Representatives voted unanimously to cut ties with Turkey.
