Libyan HoR, French ambassador agree on supporting calm

During his talks with the Ambassador of France to Libya, Béatrice du Hellen, the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Representatives, Youssef Al-Aqouri, discussed the mechanisms to enhance the support provided to the truce efforts in Libya.

During the phone call, which he received Thursday from the French ambassador, Al-Aqouri focused on presenting the latest political developments and establishing a permanent ceasefire in Libya, and on seeking a solution to the crisis through political dialogue.

At the same time, Al-Aqouri warned against allowing a situation of escalation in Libya, indicating that it would cast a shadow over the stability and security of the southern Mediterranean and Sahel region.

The Head of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee revealed that the committee will continue its work with regard to the “immigration file”, calling for creating appropriate conditions for the success of the elections, foremost among which is addressing the security situation.

He considered it necessary to strengthen joint coordination with Paris to support stability in Libya in all areas.

Béatrice du Hellen renewed France’s keenness to support efforts to support stability in Libya, appreciating the efforts of the House of Representatives in support of the peace process.

Al-Aqouri thanked the French embassy for the role it is playing in these circumstances to enhance cooperation with the Libyan side.
