On Independence Day: UNSMIL urges Libyans to unite efforts, foreget the past

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) congratulated Libyans inside and outside the country, on the 69th anniversary of Independence Day.

In its statement, the mission called on Libyans to “unite their efforts and take courageous steps to turn the page of the past, and look forward to a bright future in which the dear Libyan people would enjoy peace, prosperity and prosperity.”

The statement stressed “the importance of building on the positive progress achieved by Libyans in the various tracks, by ending the fighting, moving forward with the full implementation of the comprehensive ceasefire agreement, strengthening confidence-building measures, and continuous improvement in the economic aspects.”

“Libyans are celebrating this national occasion, and they are one year away from the national elections scheduled to take place on December 24, 2021, according to what is included in the road map, which is approved by the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.” The statement indicated.

The UN mission reaffirmed its “full commitment to helping the Libyans build their unified and capable state, and work with everyone to protect the Libyan people and their wealth, achieve democratic legitimacy for national institutions, restore the country’s sovereignty and end foreign interference.”
