UNSMIL announces meeting for LPDF Advisory Committee in Geneva next week

After news about the possibility of direct meetings between members of the Political Dialogue Forum, the UN mission announced Wednesday holding of face-to-face meetings in Geneva next week for members of the Advisory Committee.

This announcement came one day after news of a face-to-face meeting, could be held in Tunisia or Switzerland, on January 7th, but an informed source told “218News” that this option was postponed until after the formation of the advisory committee.

The UN mission confirmed that members would continue dialogue and hold meetings; in search of final solutions to the outstanding problems.

The Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, Stephanie Williams, stressed the urgent need to get out of the current blockage of Libyan dialogue and to accelerate the process of unifying the executive authority.

This came during the second hypothetical meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Political Dialogue Forum, held by “Williams”, Wednesday, and included reviewing a number of proposals on the selection mechanism and nomination procedures for the executive authority, and their discussion by the members of the committee.
