Western brigades criticize Bashagha’s Operation Snake Hunt, urge for unified government

The Union of the Western Region Force attacked Operation Snake Hunt that was launched by the Ministry of Interior in the Government of National Accord against the armed formations classified in it with outlaw groups, human and fuel smugglers, and drug traffickers.

In a statement published on Sunday, the Union rejected the security operation, considering it “fake and aiming at the sake of political interests,” and contrary to Libyan sovereignty.

The statement indicated that after the meeting of the municipalities, members of Parliament and the State Council in the city of Cabao, it was agreed to “unify all military battalions in the western region, settle all previous disputes, open all educational paths among cities, fight terrorism, crime, smuggling and illegal immigration, and return all the displaced to their homes in the western region.”

The union called on the GNA to integrate all “fighters and revolutionaries” into the volcano of anger operation in the military and security institutions, according to the institutions’ regulations.

Regarding the political issue, the Union considered that the conflicts in Libya now are the results of the outputs of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, for not choosing consensual figures to solve the Libyan crisis, demanding a clear and transparent road map and the Security Council’s support for the elections project on December 24, stressing its rejection of any non-consensual figures In the next stage.

The Western Region Force Union called on the Head of the Presidency Council to communicate with all members of the Council and form a consensus government until the elections are held on time.
