Kubis: UN committed to a unified, stable and prosperous Libya

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya reported, on Sunday evening, that the new UN envoy to Libya, Jan Kubis, spoke with the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez al-Sarraj and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Accord Mohammad Sayala, before assuming his duties on Monday.

UNSMIL stated that Kubis “reiterated firm commitment of the United Nations to a stable, prosperous and united Libya, based on the positive results of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Geneva”.

The media office of the Head of the Presidential Council said that Al-Sarraj and Kubis discussed developments in the situation in Libya, and stressed “the importance of completing the military and economic tracks after it was agreed to form a new executive authority.

It added that they had expressed hope that this agreement would allow the reunification of state institutions, emphasizing the necessity of adherence to holding the general elections on the scheduled date of December 24, 2021.
