Al-Dresi to 218News: 95% of House of Representatives members’ disputes have been resolved

On Monday, Al-Bilad on 218News discussed the issue of unifying the parliament and the most prominent tasks of the parliament during the coming period, after the unification of the executive authority according to the outputs of the Political Dialogue, which arrived, days ago, to its last stop in Geneva.

Member of Parliament Ibrahim Al-Dresi said the truth is that the House of Representatives received a burning mass of fire from the previous National Congress, and there are many important articulation issues that the National Conference did not broadcast in it, which caused many splits and disputes among the members of the House of Representatives. The other event is that the House of Representatives has not convened for four years in a full quorum session, but all members of Parliament, without exception, did not want to disagree.

He added: More than 95% of the reasons for the disagreement that were burdening the House of Representatives have been removed. We start by talking about the military establishment as the reason for the disagreement among the members of the House of Representatives is that there are those who think that the military establishment led by Khalifa Haftar is illegal, and on the other side there are those who consider it legitimate and that it took confidence from the House of Representatives.

This issue removed the existence of the military track “5 + 5”. Also, talk about the executive authority regarding the reconciliation government, is it legitimate or otherwise? Did you get the confidence of the parliament ?, and this point caused the great division among the members of the House of Representatives, now after agreeing on a government of national unity and a new presidential council, there is no longer any room for disagreement. The only problem we face is the lack of confidence among the members of Parliament.

Trust in Parliament

Ibrahim Al-Dresi clarified that he accepts criticism, and it is the citizen’s right to ask, adding: The House of Representatives has entered two parliamentary sessions and without achieving anything, we are on the verge of the eighth year of the parliament’s life and nothing changes and the political dispute is aggravating, it is assumed that the House of Representatives hand over to legislative authority coming.

Ibrahim Al-Dorsi does not deny that they have benefited from the high salaries granted to them under the law. He adds: Others have benefited more, for example, Mr. Muhammad Shuaib, the Libyan ambassador to Switzerland, Fathi Bashagha, Minister of Interior, Fayez Al-Sarraj, Chairman of the Presidency Council, and others.

Al-Dresi stressed the need for the parliament to meet and overlook and even forget the differences, and said: Here he praised the statement issued by the first and second deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, when they said that we will not now talk about the Presidency of Parliament, but rather we will talk about other matters, which is granting confidence to the new government until It begins to perform its duties in the service of the Libyan people. It is a government that has a short life. The House of Representatives must cooperate with the High Electoral Commission in order to prepare for the elections of next December 24, and this date should not change but rather become of special sanctity.

Ibrahim Al-Dresi pointed out that “there are some malicious MPs who feel victory and want to overthrow the Speaker of Parliament. I tell them this is a red line, and this will put the country into a crisis. Let’s give confidence in this government. There are other deputies who want to continue the war.

Regarding his intention of describing the Presidency of Parliament as a “red line”, he said: I do not mean the red line to stay forever, and by that I mean that the time now does not allow for any differences, and collecting the signatures of the deputies for the meeting in Sabratha considered it a split in the row and would lead to a lack of confidence in the government by the Council Representatives, our goal is to give confidence to the government and follow up on its work. We do not want any failure for this government, and we will provide it with all support.

Al-Dresi confirmed that the proposal of the city of Sirte to hold the parliament session due to the presence of the “5 + 5” committee, explaining: I will not attend the Sabratha session and excuse any deputy who cannot attend to Benghazi, so we choose the city of Sirte.

Successive governments fail

Member of Parliament Adnan Al-Shaab said: Since our failure in the Ghadames sessions, the city of Sabratha was proposed as an alternative to organizing a full-quorum session. The aim of this session was to bring about some changes, whether in the presidency or amending the internal regulations, and with the new change it became one of the priorities of this session to give confidence to the government New.

Adnan Al-Shaab confirmed that they are fully prepared to hold a session and give confidence to the government, and are ready to meet in any Libyan city.

He added: What is said on the street in terms of the salaries and benefits of members of Parliament is very true, but why did the Libyans not go out on the streets and end this corrupt body?

Al-Shaab added: The members of Parliament are dispersed between Tobruk and Tripoli, and when we met in Morocco and returned to Ghadames, the number was large, with approximately 120 deputies. The subject of the meeting in Sabratha was raised while we were in Ghadames, and I think that the time is not sufficient for us to arrange the issue of Sirte. There are two things. Either the meeting in Tobruk or the meeting in Sabratha, and everything is organized and ready to receive the deputies.
