HoR: Did this legislative body disappoint Libyans by its division?

Al-Bilad program on 218News discussed Monday the consultative sessions of the divided parliament in Tobruk, and the second in Sabratha, to give confidence to the new government, in addition to the options of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah to form a mini government.

Geographical Location

Mohammad Ghumim stated that, as an observer of political affairs; he believed “The step that Mohammed Menfi took was inevitable,” saying he was not inclined to the voices that say that the first visit should be to the city of Tripoli.

He continued: “The idea of the three regions, even if it is not established, we must deal with it as a reality.”

Menfi’s Visit

“It is true that this visit met with a lot of controversy, especially at the meeting point with the military leaders in the east. But what matters politically is finding solutions to the Libyan crisis, and the important question is, what are the outcomes of Menfi’s meeting with the military and civilian leaders? We are now seeing a new executive authority, which wants to have its own path, and this in itself is a challenge to previous governments.” He said.

Miniature Government

Mohammed Ghumim notes that “the new government faces very big challenges, and in this regard the the Western press wrote that there are many promises made by the prime minister that he will clash with when forming this government, especially since a short while ago, the spokesman for Dbeibah said that the prime minister is looking forward to consultation with the House of Representatives, and this is a message that the government hopes to grant it confidence through Parliament, and unfortunately, this parliament suffers from the problem of division.

He continues: “We must recognize that the internationally recognized parliament is the House of Representatives headed by Aqila Saleh.”

Mohammad Ghumim explained that the US government is looking for this government to be miniature, especially as we know the extent of the international influence in the formation of the 75-member Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, endorsement and international legitimacy, these statements from ambassadors of Western countries are considered determinants that must be taken into account.

Ghumim believes that Dbeibah has a very big challenge if the scene is complicated in the House of Representatives, and the will of the Libyan people will not be locked into the bickering of members of the House of Representatives.

“There is a short period in the road map approved by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, which is that there will be a time limit of “21 days”, to grant confidence by the House of Representatives, then if the House of Representatives fails, matters will return to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum. In my opinion, what the spokesperson for the new prime minister hinted at is the aspiration to have full legitimacy for the government, and what is noticed is that the Speaker and its members always have reservations about the dialogue team’s exercise of its legislative tasks.” He added.

Distrust of MPs

Mohammad Ghumim does not deny that no one expected the structure of the parliament to be divided.

He adds: “Today; We have Hamouda Siala’s parliament, Aqila Saleh’s parliament, and the parliament of the two deputies, every day the disappointment in this legislative body increases, but the road map made it clear that the will of the Libyan people would not be a bet for a divided body and its division increased with the development of events.”

In the conclusion of his speech, Ghumim wished all members of Parliament would pay ttention to this dangerous stage in the history of Libya.
