New details about Turkish firm’s role in transporting arms to Libya

The Swedish “Nordic Monitor” website revealed new details about the involvement of a Turkish company, registered in “Konya” province, in violation of the arms embargo imposed on Libya.

The site indicated that a new move was monitored by an element affiliated with the “BKNC” company, which was previously accused by the United Nations of violating the sanctions imposed on Libya, as he emerged from the shadows after the European Union imposed sanctions on the company, in September 2020.

According to commercial registry data provided on December 29, 2020; Nuri Ali Karabiljin, a 48-year-old customs advisor, has listed himself as the general manager of the firm.

On paper, the company is still wholly owned by Nuri Karabiljin, the company’s caretaker and a relative of Nuri Ali, and these changes have been made to o retain “Nuri Ali” the full legal authority to represent the company, in all types of business deals as a general manager.

In a report by the UN Panel of Experts in December 2019; the name of the company was mentioned as an arms supplier to Libya, after the Misurata port authorities discovered the order of an arms shipment on January 7, 2019, while inspecting an unloaded container at the port.
