218News exclusively reveals plans of Turkish-Egyptian rapprochement

“218News” has obtained exclusive information about the details of the “Turkish-Egyptian” rapprochement that has recently emerged on the political scene; based on possible negotiations on the demarcation of the maritime borders in the eastern Mediterranean.

Turkish diplomatic moves are heading for a rapprochement with Egypt, and arrangements in this regard have reached a great stage of seriousness at the level of security experts and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“218News” has learned that it is expected, during the coming period, to arrange a virtual meeting between Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşolu and his Egyptian counterpart Sameh Shoukry.

A source told “218News” that the two parties exchanged maps related to the issue of maritime border demarcation, the first showing the amount of loss of coastal states’ maritime jurisdiction in the eastern Mediterranean in exchange for the “blue homeland” map provided by Turkey.

The source suggested that this step was behind the successive statements made by the Turkish Minister of Defense and Foreign Affairs and the spokesman for the Turkish presidency, about the Turkish welcoming of Egypt’s observance of the Turkish continental shelf during excavations carried out in the eastern Mediterranean.
