NATO says ready to help Libya build security forces

NATO is returning to Libya through new statements similar to courting the country, in which it was present in 2011 in the period of the revolution against “Gaddafi.”

The new statements came from NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who said that the alliance is ready to strengthen security work in Libya, with the Government of National Unity assuming its duties, if the Libyans request it.

“We welcomed the information about the transitional government, preparing for the elections next December, and we will continue our support for the peace process, and also help to strengthen security work when the Libyans decide to do so,” Stoltenberg said in a press conference on Libya.

Observers followed the statement of the Secretary General of the NATO, and they said that his statements that talk about building defense and security institutions are being passed from time to time, and do not reflect the vision of all countries that join this bloc, as they are political statements that have nothing to do with reality.

NATO is witnessing divisions stemming from the Turkish conflict. This causes the alliance to be divided, and thus; this military institution is almost paralyzed, as well as because of the divisions between the “Trump” administration and the Europeans, during his rule, at a time when many hope that the Biden administration will correct this rift.

Others considered it a serious and real attempt by NATO to help Libya out of the impasse, and to help the new government, at this stage, get about 20.000 mercenaries out.
