Source to 218News: Dbeibah is considering raising public sector salaries

The economic affairs have been driving the decisions of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, since he took office in mid-March, as he was a businessman before he was a politician, according to experts’ observations.

An official source in the Government of National Unity revealed in a statement to 218News the new measures that Dabaiba had taken towards the economic track, as he directed the Minister of Finance to start preparing the salaries for the months of March and April, provided that they will be distributed before the month of Ramadan.

The source confirmed that Dbeibah issued a decision a few days ago regarding the formation of a ministerial committee that includes Minister of Finance Khaled Al-Mabrouk, Minister of Labor Ali Al-Abed, Minister of Civil Service Abdel Fattah Al-Khawja and Minister of Transportation Mohammad Al-Shahoubi, to develop a vision to increase the salaries of all employees  in the public sector whose salaries are funded by the state.

The source revealed important details about the defaulted salaries of 17.000 employees from 2015, as the previous presidential council led by Fayez Al-Sarraj was unable to solve them, indicating that the government’s obligations to pay these salaries rose from 330 million dinars in 2020 to more than 400 million dinars with the advent of this March.
