Turkey seeks NATO cover for its Libya presence

An exclusive source told “218News” that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu will leave for Brussels to participate in the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting.

The source indicated that Cavusoglu will meet during the visit with the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, and Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg.

The source revealed that Turkey will seek to take cover from “NATO” for its presence in Libya during the next stage by persuading the member states of the necessity of being there in order to confront the danger of the growing Russian presence.

The source pointed out that Turkey would not object to the joining of a limited number of NATO officers as part of a mission to support the Government of National Unity in the tasks of training, developing capabilities and controlling maritime borders.
