Constitution Drafting Assembly rejects Legal Committee’s “constitutional proposal”

The Constitution Drafting Assembly issued a statement regarding the outcome of the Legal Committee emanating from the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, in which it confirmed several points, including its refusal to form a committee to look into the objections to the draft constitution.

The Constitution Drafting Assembly said that it “works to enable the Libyan people to say their final word on the Libyan draft constitution through a free, fair, transparent and public referendum.”

It indicated that it would take “all necessary measures at the national and international levels, with the aim of maintaining the constitutional draft in accordance with the provisions of the Libyan Constitutional Declaration and ensuring the right of the Libyan people to self-determination, in accordance with all relevant international charters and decisions.”
