Europe threatens sanctions against Libyan elections spoilers

The European Council intends to impose sanctions on “persons and entities” who obstruct or undermine the holding of the elections scheduled for December 24.

The council said that “its criteria for imposing restrictive measures on Libyan figures will include those who work to (obstruct) the political process in the country, or those who threaten (the stability and security of Libya), as the Libyan crisis recently witnessed a breakthrough after the parties managed to form a unified transitional authority, which assumed its duties.
