5+5 Joint Military Commission opens Libyan coastal road

The “5+5” Joint Military Commission confirmed Friday the completion of all necessary arrangements to open the coastal road, announcing its official opening.

In a statement delivered from the headquarters of its meetings in Sirte, the Commission stated that it is still discussing the implementation of the outcomes of the rest of the agreement, appreciating the role of the UN mission to establish peace, the role of the Contact Lines Evacuation Committee, the Demining Committee, and the Security Arrangements Committee.

It also praised the role of the people of Sirte and their support for its work and reassured all citizens who will use the road that it is under its control as it will take over all security measures.

The Commission recalled the prevention of the movement of military convoys along the coastal road, and called on all parties to coordinate with it on the crossing of official figures and delegations.
