Al-Mashri urges Electoral Commission not to use the approved elections law

The Head of the High Council of State, Khaled Al-Mashri, considered in a letter to the High National Elections Commission that the parliament’s issuance of the election law is a unilateral measure that violates the internal system of the House of Representatives and the political agreement.

Al-Mashri added that the measures taken by the House of Representatives contradicted what was agreed upon between the committees of the High Council of State and the House of Representatives in Rabat recently.

He said that the insistence of the House of Representatives to continue what he described as ignoring the political agreement is in fact a coup against the political track and the constitutional declaration.

At the conclusion of his letter, Al-Mashri asked to stop the implementation of these laws until consensus between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, blaming the High National Elections Commission for what he said the legal, moral and security responsibility in the event that it works with the House of Representatives’ elections laws.
