Electoral Commission cooperates with Public Prosecution to check criminal records of candidates

Attorney General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour met with the Head of the High National Elections Commission, Emad Al-Sayeh on Wednesday in his office in Tripoli.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office explained that the meeting came to coordinate between the two sides with regard to verifying the absence of a judicial ruling of a penalty stipulated in the articles of felonies or misdemeanors against honor, in the face of candidates for eelections based on the records of the Public Prosecution.

It is worth noting that the electoral laws required candidates to obtain a certificate of absence of a criminal record and a proof that they have no judicial ruling or criminal prosecution charges.
