Members of LPDF urge Guterres to intervene and “save Libya”

17 members of the “Libyan Political Dialogue Forum” sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and the “Berlin Conference,” stakeholders, calling for rapid intervention to correct the course of the political process in the country, and to change the staff of the UN mission due to “the association of some of its members with parties to the conflict,” according to the letter.

In their letter on Wednesday, the members noted the lack of commitment by the government and the prime minister to their duties as a sponsor, impartial and guarantor of the electoral process that should not interfere in it. In addition to the failure of the Presidential Council to perform its duties, according to the road map.

The members also pointed out that the former United Nations Special Envoy, Jan Kubis, had ignored several invitations to meet with a number of members of the Political Dialogue Forum, which cast doubt on “the efforts of the political process and its conflict with the road map and relevant Security Council resolutions.”

The members stressed the necessity of convening the Berlin political group, and the importance of resuming the political track, while urging the Libyan parties to resort to calm, preserve the ceasefire agreement, respect the political process, so it won’t collapse.
