HoR to select a new Libyan Prime Minister on Feb. 8 without explaining position on elections

Parliament spokesman Abdullah Bliheq confirmed that the parliament will begin to choose a new prime minister in a February 8 session, after consulting with the High Council of State about the process.

Bliheq said in a statement that “the rapporteur’s office in the parliament will begin receiving the candidacy files for prime minister, and it will examine them to ensure that they comply with the required conditions before reception, and then it will notify the road map committee to consult with the High Council of State to present the final conclusions to the House of Representatives in the session on February 07 to choose a prime minister on February 08.

Bliheq referred to the request to the Parliament’s Finance Committee to expedite the monitoring of the law of unifying salaries for state workers, and to present it in the next Monday’s session, in addition to the demand of the Energy Committee of the House of Representatives to summon the head of the General Electricity Company regarding electricity outages for long periods, as well as to present the necessary solutions to the House of Representatives.

He also revealed that the names of the representatives who held government positions, companies or institutions, or who stopped working in violation of the laws, and violated their duties, were presented in the Tuesday session, referring to the parliament’s demand of some ambassadors and the adviser to the Secretary-General of the United Nations not to interfere in Libyan affairs, and to the Attorney General’s call to investigate preventing the landing of the plane of MPs at Mitiga Airport.
