US Treasury prepares for a meeting with CBL Governor Al-Kabir in Washington

The US Embassy in Libya said on Twitter that Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury Eric Mayer; was looking forward to meeting the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Al-Siddiq Al-Kabir, during his upcoming visit to Washington in March; to discuss continued progress on Libya’s economic reform priorities.

Al-Kabir had briefed Mayer and the US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, on the latest developments in the financial and tax implementation in Libya and the progress made towards the reunification of the Central Bank of Libya.

According to the tweets of the US embassy; the two American officials agreed with Al-Kabir on the importance of transparency in regularly paying salaries and basic government expenditures for the benefit of the Libyan people, and maintaining the independence and impartiality of state institutions such as the Central Bank of Libya and the National Oil Corporation.
