Bashagha sends complaint to Public Prosecutor after Libyan airspace is closed

The Libyan government submitted a report to the Public Prosecutor to take the necessary legal measures regarding the unity government’s complete closure of Libyan airspace.

The Libyan government, in a statement signed by Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha, considered this procedure a clear violation of the constitutionally guaranteed right of movement, an attack on the constitutional and political authorities and preventing them from exercising their duties.

The Libyan government considered that what the unity government has done falls under Article 204 of the Libyan Penal Code, which stipulates that whoever commits an act aimed at preventing the head of state, the legislative authority or the government from fully or partially exercising their duties or exercising their legally authorized powers shall be punished with the death penalty, even if the ban was temporary.

The government’s statement came after its ministers intended to go to Tobruk from Tripoli to take the legal oath before the House of Representatives in its session scheduled for Thursday.
