US diplomatic delegation discusses reopening embassy in Tripoli

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Najla Al-Mangoush, met with a high-ranking US delegation, led by the US Under Secretary of State for Administrative Affairs, Ambassador John Bass, in preparation for the reopening of the US Embassy in Tripoli.

The delegation that met with Al-Mangoush on Tuesday in Tripoli,  included Special Envoy and Ambassador to Libya Richard Norland and US Assistant Secretary of Diplomatic Security Gentry Smith. The delegation brought a message from the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, regarding strengthening and expanding relations between the two countries, according to the Libyan Foreign Ministry’s statement.

Al-Mangoush welcomed the American step, which she described as positive and the result of joint efforts between the two sides in facilitating the movement of citizens in the two countries.

She also expressed the ministry’s full readiness to provide all support to the American delegation; in order to succeed in its mission.
